What a brilliant idea Moi
Are pencils really expensive over there - must be the lead I guess!
All you need do is remember when approaching Adelaide to go to Outer Harbour - Port Adelaide isn't deep enough.
I reckon you could pick up a dozen cars while you are here and you'd make a profit!
You really have a business brain don't you!
Thanks
Peter
PS see ya soon!

I could easilly be wrong on the price - they start at about $40,000 here, about 9 months average pay - The Mitsubishi Galant is around $27,000 here and whatever we export to the USA seems to come out about the same price - I guess because we have to build them LH drive plus freight etc.
Even a $40,000 Monaro.........sorry Pontiac GTO is nothing to sneeze at and don't forget the top range ones are equal to the Commodore and Ford Falcon - the fastest production cars on the road so yes they get pricey.
When we were there we rented a Camara V8 and were told it was fast etc.. Well its too long ago to really be relevant but at that time the big shaker was the Ford Falcon GTHO - sorry but no comparison. The Camaro was dead.
I guess it will all come down to what GM want - whatever, GMH will easilly build it but we are told they are looking at the higher end so it will be their number 1 car.
And I still can't imagine GMH being alone - Ford Australia will have a little announcement soon I bet.

Feeling Poor Here (Reply to this comment)

Gosh oh Golly Peter!
A month's pay? If that was my month's pay I'd simply lease the Queen Mary, sail to Australia and cop me a pretty new car while traipsing around the world a few times.
Whimpering here on my measly little wages... anyone wanna buy a pencil?

Been hearing a lot about this car and I expect it will be a good reason to hit the North American Auto Show this January in Detroit. I hope you're wrong on the price but somehow I think you're close to the truth. I guess I may have to hang on to my "poor man's Vette" (99 SS Camaro 6 speed)

Pete,
I actually come from a long line of Charger drivers, but I'd be willing to become the black sheep of the family for a Lucozade coloured Monaro.
Cheers mate. Great review.

Is Monaro pronounced like Travolta's character from Saturday Night Fever? No? Darn, wrong accent. I'm so clueless...

We will be getting the car - but did you say about $60,000? Did you also mention a month's pay? I must have read it wrong. Excuse me while I go back and re-read.
