Kennedy’s: Beer-Swilling Hippies & Curried McFarts
by Mr.Eyore | Apr 08 '02
Kennedy's Irish Pub and Curry House is not a San Francisco institution, but I'm out to make it one.

Red-tinged breast meat. Can you say Salmonella?

I rate you highly even though you make no mention of Tony Blair.

I'm thinking maybe squid farts is taking it to a level I don't need to know about sundoggie. But I'll bet Melissa would be happy to go with you.

Was that really a place? Squids? Really?

I guess in a town with a bars called the White Swallow and Who's Your Daddy, and a burger joint called Hot n' Hunky nothing should surprise me.

You're welcome Dave. Now isn't it about time you threw a couple reviews up? I know you've had at least ONE new beer in the last 16 months.

And yes, I like the Racer 5, but I wish I could remember the names of a few of the Belgians you got me at Toronado. I've had dreams about those things.

I believe you too.

I mean about the farts being your favorite thing.

But curried farts AND a lap dance. Melissa, are you hitting on me?

I'm glad you were paying attention megu. Now you'll know which one is me next time you're sitting in the Pork Store and you smell something kinda ... funny.

I've never heard 'em called "Stuffed Japs". But I can understand why you'd want to get up and leave. I usually feel the same way when I see a menu with French Dip au Jews.

Ahaa!

God, just kill me now.

They also have a great wine selection. (Reply to this comment)

By the glass, they have over 20 different types, and they also have cold sake.

I was just at Kennedy's last weekend after a show at bimbo's, and we were remarking on the uniqueness (is that a word?) of the hippie pub-slash-indian food gimmick.

Great review. ;)

not so fond of the hippies or the farts ... (Reply to this comment)

and normally, it's a rule not to trust anyone who doesn't like the beer. for you, i guess i make an exception. but if i find out you don't like the rock and roll either, decisions will be made!

Golfin' hippies, fried clams, samosas, and a pantload of beers. This is the kind of place that made America great, is what I'm thinking.

There was a place years ago in SF called "Squids". They served squid, if you can believe that. Kennedy's sounds even cooler than Squids, and that's going some.

Yep, I like it.

Mmmmm...20 pitchers of Racer 5 - heavenly. Good beer. 'Bout time you got out of the courtroom and back where you belong - typing up amuzing reviews for my enjoyment. Thank you kindly, sir.

It just so happens that Curried Beer Farts and Eyetalian Camaro Driving Studs are a few of my fa-vo-rite things. It's nice to know that if I'm ever in San Francisco, I can find them within blocks of each other.

If you're ever down this way, I know of a place where you can get Curried Beer Farts and a lap dance.

Excellent review.

Curried Beer Farts?! yechhhh (Reply to this comment)

Curry, pints, AND stuffed jalapenos? Sounds like a place I wanna visit - although a large hippie contingent is a major deterrent.

Incidentally, the first time I ever saw one of those plastic table menus at a sports bar offering "Buffalo Wings" and "Stuffed Japs", I nearly got up and left.

If I drank that many buckets of Bear Republic's Racer 5... I wouldn't be in shape to hail a cab. You'd have to steer me into the pits. Hugely entertaining. Thanks for the fun read.
