Pros: great graphics and sound effects, easy to play
Cons: short, short, short, weak story
The Bottom Line: This game is great fun with great graphics, sound and gameplay. The worst flaw is the short length, although hidden features may keep you coming back.

To start off, if you have only watched the films, the story used in this game will have absolutely no meaning to you. The story is taken completely from books only, so don't expect a thrilling shootout between luke and his father. Enough about that, let's get to the game.
The game itself is pretty good. The graphics are terrific. Awesome explosions are plentiful, and the special effects are great. The aircrafts in the game sport good detail, and even look great when you zoom in on them. Even though most of the game is played in outer space, duh, there are some areas where you must investigate a planet. Those environments also look terrific, and the game doesn't have any major problems keeping up with all of the action on screen. Graphically impressive.
Sound-wise, the score is pretty good, it is a star wars game after all. The music goes well with the action and the sound effects are good. The explosions sound full of power, not weak like some games. Play this game through your surround sound to get some kickin' sounds from a game. Overall very good on sound.
One great thing about this game, is that it is easy to play. You can just pick up the controller, and you are ready to go. Controlling the craft is easy in either first person or third person mode, and the zoom feature lets you focus in one distant enemies, while the auto-aim allows you to target specific craft. All of the added features eliminates the frustration factor present in so many flight oriented games. A definite plus for prospective players.
Unfortunately, it can't be all good. The game has one major flaw. It is too short. The game can be completed in less than a day by most average players, and in less than 5 hours by good players. When you spend that much money on a game, you want a little more than 5 hours of play time. The good side is there are extra missions, bonus goals, and some hidden features to keep you coming back. By far the weakest part of the game.
This is a very fun shooting game for star wars fans. It is a significant improvement over the last two playstation games from star wars (episode one, and jedi power battles). Don't let Bombad Racing fool you, the ps2 can have a good star wars game.
