I've bought many items from WinterSilks and have been completely happy, both with the quality of the product and prices. But I'm pretty easy to please, and rarely have to deal with customer service with most companies I do business with--I've never spoken with them on the phone.
Most of my purchases have been silk socks. Their socks coordinate well with my wardrobe (formal dress) and are extremely comfortable compared to the usual cotton or nylon dress sock. But I've found they don't last that long if you do a lot of walking, and trying to darn them just isn't worth my time or effort. (This is generally true of silk socks, and not a specific problem with their products--their socks have held up as well as any other silk socks I've owned.)
One important consideration when buying silk items is that "silk" has become a vague term. In the days of Pasteur it always meant fabric woven from caterpillar silk, but in modern marketingspeak it may also refer to a blend of cotton and artificial fabrics which have a silk-like feel and appearance. I strongly suspect the fabrics used by WinterSilk really do contain some amount of caterpillar silk, but obviously I can't be 100% certain of this. I can say their socks strongly resemble socks which I know are mostly caterpillar silk, both in terms of appearance and feel.
White silk socks have a not-so-obvious problem: they easily absorb dyes (shoe polish) from leather. Since they can't be bleached they will become permanently discolored rather quickly. It's not as bad as it sounds because the discolored areas are inside the shoe, but they definitely won't be pristine-perfect white after a few wearings.
Most silk socks must be hand-washed, but I've had good results washing them in cold water/gentle cycle/Woolite. This seems to get them cleaner than washing them by hand, and is certainly more convenient.
WinterSilk's silk T-shirts are very nice. They're far more breathable than the typical undershirt, won't generate belly button lint, are comfortable to wear, and no problems keeping them clean (they're machine washable). I also haven't found any holes due to excessive wear--they seem to last as least as long as my cotton undershirts did, and are highly recommended.
They're one of the few companies selling silk men's dress socks at affordable prices, and I feel that alone makes them stand out.
