I am a neat freak...and I have a special place in my heart for a freshly sweept carpet. My enemy...the vacuum cleaner.

If you have read any of my reviews, you would know that I am a clean freak. I have at least two vacuums in my house and I use them quite frequently. However, I have a new puppy, a boxer/hound mix named kaylee. She is adorable, but, sheds like a banshee. So, the first time I brought my Hoover out, she "spotted" on my couch...then I had to get my Dirt Devil Spotbot out to clean that up. What a day...

So, while taking a walk through one of my favorite department stores, I saw this little carpet sweeper on sale. It was only $10, so I said "what the heck!" I also had a half-off coupon, so $5 is better than $10!

The Casabella carpet sweeper is truly inventive, and not the same old carpet sweeper grandma had. It is compact, quiet, and does a heck of a job! It has a four foot handle, easy-hang bracket at the top of the handle, a ten inch wide base, four non-skid wheels and a horsehair beater brush.

It also comes with a five slotted cleaning tool for the brush. It stores easily on the handle while operating.

Operation of the sweeper isn't all that hard - push back and forth over the carpet to pick up dirt and debris that is laying down. It is NOT meant to replace a vacuum cleaner, I might add. The Casabella sweeper is to extend the cleanliness of the carpet in between vacuuming.

The Casabella sweeper does a great job on berber carpets, medium pile and even some shag carpets. As a hint, it does great for those little rag rugs, and even bathroom rugs. It doesn't pull up the edges, so it really makes them look like you've just washed them!

(a service notice to any readers here - please do not discontinue washing your bathroom rugs! it is just nasty to walk out of the shower on a dirty rug, pick them up and wash them!)

Emptying the sweeper is also very user friendly. There are two pop up hinges on the bottom of the sweeper, and with a little shake, all the dirt and dust comes out easily. Just a snap and you're done. Use the comb for the brush bar, and you are ready to clean.

All in all, this is a great sweeper. It really does help out if you have small children, pets, or high traffic areas where you need to spot clean daily. This is an all metal construction, so it will last a lifetime.
