The Bottom Line Don't be fooled by Proactive, if you have acne I suggest Acutane - It's the only thing that's ever worked for me
Many of you have seen the infomercial for Proactive Solution on the television with amazing before and after photos - please don't be fooled. I used to suffered from bouts of acne on my t-zone area and severe acne on my back. When I saw the proactive commercial it was like a dream come true. Boy was I wrong! After shelling out over $50.00 (extremely high shipping charges), I was disappointed when I opened the box and saw the size of the bottles. I was patient with the product, since they commercial said it may take a month before seeing results. Well I continued using it for 3 months with no signs of improvement, so finally I called to cancel my subscription. I got the run-around when I tried to cancel, but finally after having to defend why I wanted to discontinue use, the woman finally said she would cancel my order. Next month I received a notice saying my account was over-do, I ignored it because I thought maybe it was mailed before I canceled or something. Then I received another set of the products, which I promptly mailed back. I telephoned the company and they apologized and said they would clear everything up. I then received deceptive notices which one could easily be fooled by. The letter said something like "Please pay your account balance or we will be forced to cancel your next shipment". Well duh, I wanted them to cancel. The letter made it sound like your account was overdue, but it was really just them trying to scam you into sending money and thus resubscribing! I finally got the proactive mess straightened out and made an appointment with a dermatologist (something I should have done in the first place). He prescribed Acutane, which I was wary about since it has a lot of side effects (including very dry skin and possibility of liver damage). Well it's two years later, and I have been acne free ever since my 6 months on Acutane! I would recommend it to anyone with moderate to severe acne.  |
