Main Islander/ Islander on the beach (Reply to this comment)

Regarding the break-ins at these properties reported in reviews since 2002, still nothing has been done to provide adequate protection for travellers.
We rented both properties in October 2008 and were broken into. Our group had quite a lot stolen.
I do question the thoughts and motives of the owners for NOT supplying adequate security. They have had 6 years since this first review was written by Lord Balfor.
Why wouldnt you supply security for your guests?? A couple of safes would be the cost of two nights accomodation.
The police were next to useless,a little like keystone cops, taking photos of their own footprints, loosing the police reports etc. Then charging $30 to the victim (there were 6 victims - $180.00)to get a copy of the report for insurance.
Dont get me wrong, Rarotonga is my favorite place in the world for a relaxing sunny holiday, however you do have to visit Rarotonga with a closed mind to the inherant alleged corruption within. As much as I hate to think it, these burglaries happen often enough, but why wouldnt the owner have made it harder for thieves?????? You do have to wonder...

I was a little behind in my reading, but found your review link in my e-mail today. We leave in 13 days for FP and can't wait. Well, on to part 2!
