Great Idea!

Pros:Brew your own coffee anytime, anywhere, coffee tastes amazing, great for travel
Cons:Plastic can crack, sometimes lid doesn't seal
The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend the stainless steel travel press to anyone who loves French press coffee and is always on the go, but I would avoid the plastic model.

I love French press coffee and I travel a lot. So when I saw the Bodum travel press I thought it was a match made in heaven.

It's very simple to use. You just put your ground coffee in and add hot water. Put the lid on, let it "brew" to your desired strength, then simply press the plunger down into place. You can add cream and sugar and take it with you.

While I love the taste and convenience there were a few problems. The top wouldn't seal very well sometimes and coffee would either drip or pour onto your clothes. Besides being hot, clothes would be stained. Then I found they would crack easily. The Travel Press is double walled plastic for insulation but the outer wall cracked and would let dishwater in. Unfortunately, I couldn't then get the dishwater to drain out. This didn't affect performance but it looked kinda gross. However, I like the product and went through two of these before I gave up.

However, I have found a new model by Bodum made for Starbucks. It fixes ALL of the problems I had with the first Bodum model. This one is STAINLESS STEEL and insulated. The lid screws on really well and there's no leaking! It's dishwasher safe. I LOVE IT!!! I use it every day and it works beautifully. Now I really can have perfect coffee in a great looking stainless steel travel press anytime, anywhere! (I give the stainless model 5 stars!) You can purchase the stainless steel travel press from Starbucks.com. (under "Brewing and Serving" section and then "Serveware")

Price paid:
$9.95 for original plastic model
$19.95 for stainless steel model
