The Candy Snatchers - A definitive cult classic
by alex_isit | May 22 '02
Sleazy, downbeat and depressing, The Candy Snatchers is a classic and conclusively typical example of the utter grime which issued from The Grindhouse in the early 70's.

I had no idea that some of these films even existed! Off to Netflix to add them to my queue!

Thanks!

EXCELLENT review.... (Reply to this comment)

Try putting your topicality disclaimer at the head of the review to ward off those who are itching to give a lower rating to epinions that although might be well above average in quality (as yours is) they deem as off the topic. I got burned by that once on my Monsters, Inc. review which was intended as an examination of the Sound Effects Editing Oscar nomination category. Although it was a very thoughtful and in depth epinion, I entered it in the Monsters Inc category because Epinions no longer had a category for Academy Award Prediction which they indeed used to have. Well, all's well now as I added much more content about Monsters Inc and that seemed to appease the low-rater who then changed his rating. Frankly though, in its original form there was still far more content about Monsters Inc. then most reviewers had, so that's why we'll have to beware of those who as I mentioned might be eager to look for an excuse to low-rate an epinion undeservedly so.
Best to you,
Bill

You inspire us movie reviewers to visions of greatness like this review/essay, but most of us will only fall flat. Amazing insight, although I'm not that sure about Russel Crowe. :-)

Thank you George, I kept thinking I must have missed something, and could well have written more on the film in question, but then I suppose that might have been missing the point a little. Your kind and generous comments really are appreciated; I love to get feedback and love it all the more when its as evidently sincere and well meant as this.

Thanks again
Alex :)

to give you an MH on this one. In fact, it was more than a MH. It was off the scale! However, my puny rating powers only allow me to dish out a VH. Bugger. A very entertaining, and informative read (if a bit long ;-)

nailed the coffin shut on this topic. I don't see how anybody could add anything meaningful to this great piece of exposition. Superior job! Thank you, Alex!
