Mr. Svenvold did a very good job capturing the life on the road in a storm chase. He combines wit, meteorological knowledge and writing experience in a book which there is no equivalent. With many box office movies giving the perception of storm chasing as being an extreme sport, this book is the balance which shows that not all is fast and exciting in storm chasing.
However, as a storm chaser who was chasing in May of 2004, I was looking for something different from this book. I wanted to know more about another perspective during the May 22, 2004 tornadoes. Many chasers were on the road that day, and getting another perspective might help us analyze what we saw a little better. Mr. Svenvold barely touches on this, though I doubt this was the intention of his book in the first place.
As an active storm chaser, I was not quite sure what to expect with this book, and it was not quite what I expected. This book did not focus much on the meteorology of the May 2004 chase season as much as the human aspect to storm chasing.
