| kamibuckeye's Full Review: Dawn Direct Foam Dishwashing Detergent |
Don't do it! I know what you're thinking- how can this small squirt from one press of the pump clean a full load of dishes. Don't do it, I say. Don't press the pump again! Trust me it works.
My first run-in with this product was at my parents home. my initial thought was that this was such a gimick. But lo! I ended up loving the convenience and was pleasantly surprised that this one little pump could really do what it says. Now I have the refill bottle for myself.
OK, for product information. Dawn Direct Foam dishwashing liquid comes in a 400 mL pump bottle that claims to get 250 pumps or 250 loads of dishes. I can't verify that since I'm not counting my dish loads and also because apparently my husband can't read and was using this as hand soap. I can say that I have been using my first bottle for well over 2 months now and it's not quite empty yet.
The directions say "For best results: squeeze wet sponge to eliminate any excess water, apply foam. Use minimal water while washing items. Rinse normally." In my experiences, it is imparitive to follow these instructions as written. Too much water on your dishcloth and the product gets diluted and doesn't foam up the same. What I do is wet the dishcloth thoroughly, then gently squeeze until all drippiness is gone but the cloth is still more wet than if you wring it out totally dry- hopefully that makes sense. Then you need to sorta massage the cloth to get a good foam worked up. Then you're all ready to wash. Wet the dishes under running water than clean with your soapy cloth. It's still important that the dishes are "rinse" wet and you don't dip your cloth into a bowl full of water. Any diluting of this product totally negates its effectiveness. It's something to get used to if you're used to washing in a dishpan but once you figure it out it's smooth sailing.
The great thing about this product is that the bubbles keep coming and coming. Your cloth at the end of the load will have as many bubbles as when you first started, as long as you follow the instuctions and use minimal water. Another bubbles negator is heavily greasy or oily items so save those for last.
This is a great product to have on hand, if you do an occasion load or wash 3 times a day Dawn Direct will work on all your dishwashing needs.
