The Bottom Line This was a blast as the girls were able to interact alot together and as teams.
My daughter recently turned 8 and is into the current Spongebob Squarepants craze (I like him myself). When we were discussing themes for her party she really clung to the idea that we could get a whole party out of Spongebob and I agreed to try. We always start the party with a craft so that kids have something to do for as long as they want as all the party guests arrive. 14 girls were invited. We spread a cheap table cloth over a foldable table, placed paper plates with different colors of paint on them and placed different chaped sponges along the table. The girls were each given a brown paper gift bag with a handle and their names written on them and told to decorate the front of the bag. Have wipes handy for cleaning hands. The girls loved this and we put the bags on the housesteps to dry. In the meantime, we had Krabby relay races where two teams line up and race crab-like back and forth to the finish line. You can be creative with this as the girls wanted to race more than once. At the conclusion of the race, the girls chose a small prize (everyone got one) from a gift bag. They placed them in their still drying goody bags. We moved onto "Pin the Squarepants on SPongebob" that I downloaded from the Nickjr.com web site. No work for you except cutting out a proper number of pants for each of the girls to tape on the Spongebob printout while blindfolded. Each girl got a prize which they chose and placed in the good bags. We then beat the pinata (again blindfolded) whish was also Spongebob and so that each child gets a turn, we maintain their must still be candy in their until each child has had a whack and then on the count of three they race for the candy, which is then placed in the goody bags. We moved indoors for seanut butter and jellyfish sandwiches and of course, Spongebob cake, the plans for which I got from Nickjr.com. This was a bit time-consuming but not difficult. The girls loved it. We moved back outside for buuble contests (Spongebob's favorite) and water balloons (I kept the water amount inside on the light side. The girls really enjoyed this. This was a two hour party and suited for outdoors. The kids have a blast just being together and racing around. I like the at home parties because they really stay together and I get to eavesdrop on their conversations, which are hilarious. My daughter thanked me for the best party ever. |
