cell phones are another hot item that is being snatched on a regular basis. I knew three girls that worked in one hotel in Cebu that had them taken in less than a week.

It's difficult to review an entire country, but you did a wonderful good job! Descriptive and thorough.
I'd like to add one peril that piggy backs on pick pockets - people should watch out for 'snatchers' - I had my necklace snatched off my neck mid-sentence once and another time my friend's baseball hat was swooped off his head (when baseball hats were en vogue).
Despite this, I generally felt safe when I was there.
I miss the Philippines!
