| Robspan's Full Review: SunCom Mobile Phone Service in New Orleans |
I've been with SunCom for two years and have been happy with it. There have been few blackouts and dropped calls. My wife has a Verizon phone and she has many more dropped calls. I chose SunCom for its digital service and the ability to receive short email messages.
One thing that's been really good is that I joined when no long term contract was required. Now one is required and I think that means that SunCom is no longer competitive with the larger companies - Verizon and Sprint.
Also, my current arrangement gives me the first minute incoming free. Since I'm often on the phone for short periods, that was a big help. The new plans don't include that.
For about the same amount of money you can get major cities coverage with Verizon and Sprint. SunCom has a cities plan but it's much more limited.
SunCom does have a good Nights and Weekends deal - 5$ for 500 minutes and the times are good - 8pm to 7am. They now also have unlimited nights and weekends. If you talk a lot at night or on weekends and don't travel out of the NO-BR-Mobile corridor, that might be a good deal for you.
