| msjazz79's Full Review: Motorola Timeport P935 |
Well, I finally ditched my T900 for a P935 this past April. I have a club on Yahoo dedicated to 2way pagers and after chatting with other members on the benefits of it, I caved in and bought one.
For those who read my review on the T900 you will recall my service provider was with Weblink Wireless. When I contacted them to let them know I was interested in purchasing a P935 they told me the cost would be $500. Their reason for the $100 over price was because I wouldn't get a new number and plan. So I cut them off all together.
I did some research on where to buy them as well as the OTHER service providers. Since I live in St. Louis, MO, there really werent that many retail stores that carries them, except Office Max, Office Depot who retailed them at $400, then there are the small cellular & paging stores, but they wanted close to $500.
I was looking for a deal and I went hunting on the internet. After a while I finally heard about Auctions where I could buy one. I also heard the pros and cons with dealing internet auctions. I did my research and decided to try my luck on Ebay. You can get a new or used pager for pretty much a steal if you know what find.
I betted on a new Black P935 and received it in the mail within 3 weeks. Everything was packaged when I received it and also activated with my new pager number. I was VERY pleased. In the box, comes a serial port cradle, CD-ROM software, manuals, P935, and battery. Unfortunately as soon as I received it, it crashed on me. I called my service provider ARCH WIRELESS and they sent a new unit out to me ASAP.
Once I received the new unit, I had it activated and went to work learning about it. Right off the bat I was impressed at the learning tutorial they put you through when you first turn on the pager. After that it took me to the main screen where I could put in my contact info, read & write emails, ALL KINDS OF THINGS. Overall there are close to 20 icons with different functions. You also can control how you are notified of incoming pages, as well as IF you want to receive them. My fav. feature is called Jukebox. I have over 30 diff. little tunes ranging from R&B and Alternative on my pager to alert me when I getting an email. Also i can program a tune specifically for a certain person. So I know already whos paging me before I even go to my P935.
There are also games which you can play against another P935 user. I can also send one email message to MULTIPLE email address. A function that the t900 lacks and what really turned me to the P935. the blue background is def. a plus. Also has a calender, memo, calculator functions as well. My only complaint right now is that it is a TAD bit bulky but I usually have it my purse anyway. If I have to sacrafice some size for functionality. Then to me it's worth the buy.
I will update some more once I've become more accquainted with my new toy.
