A meaningless bore

Pros:Nothing much, except that the cinematography was fine.
Cons:Brutally boring, with actors hamstrung by something in the wings - perhaps the Director?
The Bottom Line: Guts blood and meaningless gangster brutality - a total bore and the actors looked it.

Wow this movie has top reviews, I am surprised. I went to see it because I'm a fan of the cast and the Director. But really, the whole thing was lame and a bore.

The actors were struggling to get any tension sustained, when it crept up it was either killed or deflated by the Director. The original did not need the endless swearing, the mindless blood and guts on the big screen with surround sound, and the string of women with their heads in the laps of smelly old men. American for sure, but all irrelevant to the plot. I enjoyed the original, watched it a couple of times without being bored.

These top actors were straining to find a new move, and it didn't come. In the end it just all fell to nothing. Jack Nicholson is a credible grumpy old man, but as a villain he comes across as grandpa acting. The only feeling I took away from the whole show was that the actors were doing their best to earn their fees, and for that they did OK in totally loosing circumstances.

Oh, I did take one other feeling away - what a waste of my time!
