The most useful piece of baby equipment I own!

  • Ease of Use:
Pros:The release latch for folding got stuck a few times
Cons:More useful than anything else I own!
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this indescribably useful and well-priced product.

The Baby Trend Snap-N-Go LX is a lightweight fold-up stroller frame that is used to support an infant car seat.

I purchased my Baby Trend Snap-N-Go LX just before my 7 month old daughter was born. I specifically chose to get the one with the basket which has been extremely useful. I would not recommend the one without the basket under any circumstances!

I was given the Graco Chaffeur Travel System (stroller and car seat set), but have found that I never actually used the stroller much in the first 7 months of my daughter's life. The Graco stroller is very big and unwieldy and not as easy as the Snap-N-Go to take into malls, elevators and restaurants. However I did get an incredible amount of use out of the Graco car seat which I have used as a car seat, a stroller (when on the Baby Trend Snap-N-Go LX), and as a carrier in which my baby has slept many nights at home and away. She has always slept better in the car seat than in her crib, possibly because her head is raised. (I am describing the Graco car seat, because the Baby Trend Snap-N-Go LX is useless without a carrier. And in my mind the two are an unbeatable team!)

Together with the car seat, the Baby Trend Snap-N-Go LX is the most useful piece of equimpment I own. The Baby Trend Snap-N-Go LX will take a range of baby car seats. During assembly (which is easy enough if you read the manual carefully) you select the supportive crossbars based on the carrier you own.

I use the Baby Trend Snap-N-Go LX and Graco car seat all the time. My baby often naps in it. I shop with it, walk her in it, and rock her to sleep in it. I have walked on city streets for 4 hours at a time. It has been with me from Chicago to Florida, and all the way to Africa and back, and on numerous car trips. In the aeroplane I have checked it at the gate and it has been there waiting when we exit the aeroplane. When my baby does not have her own seat, I have checked the car seat as well. No problem.

I also use it in cabs. In this case, as with my own car, I store the Snap-N-Go in the trunk or the front seat. My baby has then sat safely in her car seat in the back seat. As you can imagine this makes getting about in the city without ones own car, very very easy. At your destination you just take out the Snap-N-Go, open it up (which could not be easier), and set the car seat and baby on top. And there you have a stroller with a basket to do your shopping or carry your purse etc.

The basket has been very useful and when I go shopping for a small amount of groceries I just put the items in the basket as I shop. At the register I take them out to pay and then put my parcels back in the basket. It has transported lots of heavy fruit and has lasted well in this regard.

A FINAL WORD OF CAUTION
Once your baby is a little bigger, you should at all times use the strap provided on Baby Trend Snap-N-Go LX so that she does not sit up and fall or topple out. At 6.5 months, my baby liked to sit upright and forward in her seat so that she could watch the passersby.

MINOR FAULTS WITH THE DESIGN
1. The wheels tend to become very pocked and worn from use though this does not affect how it moves
2. The brake on my left back wheel got stuck once but quickly became unstuck
3. The latch used for folding became totally stuck in the wrong place. I thought it had fallen off but we finally found it stuck against the frame. This happened about 3 times
4. If you run too fast pushing it, the wheels start going sideways. So you cannot use when jogging or blading
5. The wheels are small and sometimes get stuck on bumps. Also the baby feels the feels the cracks in the sidewalk so you have to be vigilant and lift the wheels accordingly.

Even though some complain about the flimsy design, mine has lasted as long as my baby fitted into her car seat, and may even last for the next baby. We will see!
