You mentioned that these could be powered by a 100 watt receiver. That probably isn't a good idea. These are 4 ohm speakers. Most receivers cannot handle 4 ohms, and many actually say hooking them up to anything less than 6 ohms may damage the receiver and void your warranty. These really need a powerful amp which can easily drive a 4 ohm speaker.

From reading your review, I get the feeling that you are not a Bang & Olufsen fan. (I cleverly surmised this via the subtle little hints sprinkled throughout..).

I like your review on the Magnepans and just wanted to add that I agree with you regarding B&O. I was perusing some of their products at one of their mall stores and found that while it was quite an elegant and classy-looking store, the sales people could have been right at home selling used cars. Not a pleasant place to shop, and the products aren't anywhere near the prices asked.

Also, it would have been nice if you compared the Magnepans to some more worthy competitors instead of the B&O's. That comparison is a no-brainer.

What do you mean by this:

I actually found the Magnepan MG1.6 QR to be very comparable with the much cheaper Paradigm Monitor 11s.

This seems like damnation by faint praise.
