The Bottom Line We hold within us passion like the power of a thousand bursting suns where Phoenix spread their fire and fly.

A writer's corner, huh? Well, this is something I did not expect. It's certainly welcome, though. Let me know what you think of this. It was written on and off between late 2001 and early 2002. Hope ya like it...

Sunburst

High above where eye meets sky
Where winged ones fly, there lies
A sun whose light shall shine
Should anyone wish to gaze.

Boiling on its surface, the sun waits
For millions of years, overlapping billions of years.
It waits for one moment, where it will
Spread its fire and fly.

Low below where my eyes see
In crowded places of my youth
People whose light dims, captivating no one
I wonder if anyone notices or cares?

Boiling on its surface, the crowd waits
For as long as history recalls, beyond even that
It waits for one moment, where it will
Spread its fire and fly.

And the sun will set and rise, rise and set
Among these people who will never gaze
Into its bright and stunning eye.
And the people rest and rise, rise and rest
Below this sun that will never wonder
When they will spread their fire and fly.

In a house, in any house, there we will gather ‘round
And wonder how we have been brought to where we are
Could we have turned and walked on different roads
In different skins, in different times?

In the sky, elsewhere than Earth, the sun will sit
And know when it’s time,
For there can be no other time than what it feels.
The time is right for changing, and it grows.

And from beneath its flesh, there will come a power
Of something more than I could know,
And from it will there be a white-hot sunburst,
a phoenix will draw its wings, showering flames
its beauty a sight never seen.

And below, we will gather ‘round
Where we have laughed and cried and screamed and dreamed.
Though we do not understand or know how we have come here
We hold within us passion like the power of
A thousand bursting suns
Where Phoenix spread their fire and fly.
