Great Scorsese delivery, and good acting

Pros:Good story, and not a carbon copy of Infernal Affairs
Cons:Mark Wahlberg
The Bottom Line: definitely see it if you're into Scorsese, or just in the mood for a good action/crime drama.

I saw the Chinese film Infernal Affairs first, so I could compare the original with Martin Scorsese's remake. I had faith in Scorsese, but I was a little nervous about him re-making such a recent film.

He delivers, and quite well. Jack Nicholson makes his return in a sinister role which suits him better than his former, more comedic roles. He claims to have done those comedy movies after September 11th.

Leonardo DiCaprio is fantastic in his role. He is so stranger working with Scorsese, and I think he is becoming Scorsese's actor of choice. DiCaprio is definitely one of the better actors of his generation.

Mark Wahlberg does pretty good, he's not my favorite but he did ok for his role as a rude detective.

Of course the story is very close to Infernal Affiars, since it's a remake. But no scenes are shot for shot I don't think. That is certainly one thing I hate about some re-makes, such as Fistful of Dollars is a BLATANT re-make of Yojimbo - a brilliant Kurosawa film.

Overall, very good film and I recommend it. It is quite violent and filled with cuss words, but none of that bothers me. I've gotten used to it with Scorsese.
