Hi Casey,
I wished we could get gas here, but too far away from any gas lines and a propane truck would never make it up our mountain road in the winter, so we had to go electric all the way.
I just love your log home ideas and can't wait for it to become a reality for you. :) - Kathy

Some Good Points Here, Kathy (Reply to this comment)

I liked the different options you presented, and how it applied to your own situation. I think given their druthers, most people who cook would rather face their family/friends then feel shut off and away from what's going on.
Also it seems that building a shelf for your own choice/dimensions in microwave was the smart way to go, as you mentioned, as you don't want to be stuck with expensive one-choice only replacement option.
With our log home I am designing, we can go either way, and will most likely end up with a 36 inch dual fuel professional stove, an all-in-one model that will give me all the room I need for larger baking pans, and still fit a small grill/griddle in the middle.
Thanks for this very interesting and well-written editorial. I plan to put it in my "dream kitchen" file for when my dream becomes a reality!
Casey
