I was always an avid fan of 3dfx. Ever since I bought a 3dfx banshee card I found them the best. Soon as the Voodoo3 came out in Australia, I had to get one!
The card came in a lovely (depends on taste) box with easy to read installation instructions, drivers and registration card. I am not overly confident in opening up my PC but I felt the instructions covered everything I needed to know.
The card installs easily and automatically detected in Windows 98, I just inserted the driver disc and then restarted my machine and everything was running smoothly.
For Windows and Business applications, the performance is excellent and the clarity and sharpness of picture is spot on.
For 3D games the card performs best in 3dfx's Glide interface and OpenGL provided you go no further than 1024x768. Direct3D is slower than both Glide and OpenGL and this is also due to the card only having 16MB of SDRAM. Generally, I stick to 800x600 and that prevents jerkyness.
The card plays most to all games perfectly and I haven't found a game this card cannot run. The added bonus of 3dfx's Glide interface can really boost performance in games that support it.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and will keep it until the latest games require something more powerful.
