Harassing phone calls on weekend mornings

After applying online for a vehicle loan I got a call within five minutes saying my loan was approved and quoting a rate. Unfortunately I had already been quoted a better rate elsewhere, so the customer service representative said thank you for trying Eloan and hung up. So far so good, nobody can have the best rate all the time.
The next morning, Sunday morning, I was awoken by a call from their auto-dialer at 8:00am. "Were surprised we haven't heard back from you regarding your loan application, please call ...". My phone range two or three times before noon. When I tried to call back I spent several minutes navigating their phone menu to be told to call back during regular business hours.
Monday morning my phone range at 7:00am. Then again at 8:00am. At that point between Sunday and Monday morning my phone had rang at least six times, and it still was not regular business hours, so there was no human to get ahold of to kindly request that they stop placing harassing phone calls.
Why would their auto dialer be set to call multiple times when you can not speak to a real person? And why was I getting calls when I had already made clear that I was not interested in their loan product?

While I was writing this, after having finally spoken to a real person who assured me I would not be called again, my phone again rang.
