yes, I'm a movie-aholic. Crash made me feel dirty...but I couldn't take my eyes off of it.
Great job.

Congratulations... (Reply to this comment)

Wow, you really put some serious time into this and the fruits of your labor definitely show up in the results. I briefly read your bio, but I was wondering if this is something that you do for a living (reviewing movies that is). You just seem to know so much about the background of every writer/director/actor that you mention. Do you do extensive research on this kind of stuff before you write a review or are you a human movie encyclopedia?
Again, congratulations on this list... keep writing!

d_fienberg - this confirms your place at the top of the food chain as far as I'm concerned... brilliant work.
Jonathan - you finally found someone on epinions who matches you for brilliant-but-long-as-all-heck reviews... this makes me happy.
cheers,
pazzie

Despite not being in complete agreement with you on several of your choices --a very well thought out and interesting list of 90's gems.
Nice job.

Being off topic (Reply to this comment)
by d_fienberg
It seems that the semantic problem is on Epinions side and not on mine. Of course, yeah, I guess by the letter of the law, this is off topic, just as Simply Crispy's Top 100 is off topic. But why isn't the topic just "Best films of The 90s" of "Best Films of All-Time?" The fact that I included an extra ten films from the 90s doesn't make my review less helpful. It makes it more helpful. So when a review that is "more helpful" becomes off-topic, the problem is with the topic and not with the review. Once you restrict writers's opportunities to provide more commentary and more information there's just no point in Epinions at all.

Dear ed_feinberg: Sorry to be a foolish hobgoblin, but that is my task as CL. Nevertheless, I admire your enthusiasm.
I would have LA CONFIDENTIAL over on the other list where you have QUIZ SHOW.
All the best.

Can't wait for Part II... (Reply to this comment)
by omophagia
I honestly can't recall the last time I read a film review here at epinions that absolutely made me smile. There's something in nearly every 'graph of this review that's just dead-on.
As for the films themselves, I can't argue with your picks. I do think that Alien 3 is the only film in that series to merit serious discussion, although it is a deeply flawed film.
And "the genius of Kevin Spacey." The 1990s were an amazing time for him. Since we rolled over into the aughts, he's unintentionally become a smug parody of himself with terrible performances in Pay it Forward, K-Pax, and The Shipping News. I just hope he eventually finds his Se7en and L.A. Confidential again.
Anyway. I'm off to read more of your reviews.
