Wave Ceptor (Atomic) Casio Data Bank DBCW-150 (Reply to this comment)

Bought mine in 2003 and the battery is still good. Replacement on all Casio Datas is tricky but you can do it yourself. 4 screws on back are hard to remove. Use a flat screwdriver to remove and a phillips to put back. Need to have good quality watchmaker driver set and have to use a lot of down force. Once the back is off the white plastic cover comes off easily. While not mentioned in the instructions, the spring clip holding the batttery in also needs to be pried off. A 10 power jewlwers maginfying glass helps. Remove the battery and wait 5 seconds. Once you replace the battery you need to "short out" the new battery. Instructions say to use a pair of metallic tweezers. Unless you have jewlers micr ones this is impossible. Your jewlers screwdivers will work. Need 2 of the finest in your set. One needs to go to the bottom of the "A/C" (All Clear) terminal next to the battery. Use your maginfing glass to locate the bottom of the terminal. Make contact with the terminal and use a second driver to touch the first screwdriver and the top of the batttery ( on top.) The display will show that the watch is checking. Screw the back on. Afer about a minute this checking mode will clear. The watch can now be reset normally. Seems like a pain but...
Casio no longer makes an atomic calculator. You can get a calculator OR you can get Wave Ceptor, but you can not get both together. A used 150 in like new condition recently sold on E-Bay (2007)for $210 !!!
