Hi Larry, yes, there are a few of us left in the world! I've been using the standard Kingsford briquettes most of the summer, but prefer the Charwood they sell. I do have a bit of a time finding it, though, esp. out of season. Some of the big places like Home Depot or Lowes usu. keep a bag or two on hand. The woodchips are a good substitute, if you can find them and add them to your regular briquettes. But, sometimes hard to find. Thanks for the comment! Zach

Thank you, I fell off last month because I was really busy with work. So, I've been neglecting my writing and reviewing...For shame, for shame. Thanks for the comment! Zach

...someone else in Maryland understands charcoal. Just curious if you can find and use lump hardwood charcoal or if you use the food store stuff with coal dust in it.
Great review on one of my favorite subjects.

Im glad youre back - its good to see a new beefchop review!
I like the convenience of gas, but I agree that charcoal is tops for taste, especially with a few hardwood chips thrown in to impart that smoky hint of flavor. I seem to get the sizzling volcano no matter which type of grill I use - the lean burgers just arent as juicy, and dont taste as good, so the eruptions will likely continue.
A great review on my favorite subject -
