The Bottom Line Find a comfortable pair. They all work equally well for the most part.
I just wrapped up my fourth year of playing indoor soccer, and have played outdoor soccer for the last 18 years. Indoor shoes are drastically different from outdoor shoes in a variety of manners, including the obvious lack of cleats. However, I have found that indoor shoes are not as fickle as outdoor shoes. With outdoor shoes cleat patterns and length matter a lot depending on the conditions of the field one is playing on. However, indoors this does not seem to be the case. The design of the sole does not seem all together too crucial. To me the most important feature seems to be the fit of the shoe and the comfort of the shoe on one’s foot. I know many players who use a wide variety of shoes and none of them seem to have any preference for one design or the other, merely whether the shoe is a good fit and comfortable. I have known people who even played in Vans because they found them to be the most comfortable, but the problem with wearing that type of shoe was that it wore out extremely fast as it was not designed for the constant starting and stopping associated with making quick cuts on a fast indoor surface. I would recommend trying on several different brands of shoe in order to get one that conforms to the shape of one’s foot. I would also recommend a tight fit so that one’s foot does not slide at all when making cuts and quick stops. Other than that, the look is really up to the individual’s taste. |
