Pros:Great little drive. Easy to use and cheap on eBay!
Cons:Cord from CD-RW to pcmcia card could be a little longer.
The Bottom Line: Ricoh MP8040se, HP m820e, Panasonic KXL-RW10A. Any one will do. Look for the best price.
Mine is the Ricoh MP8040se portable CD burner, but the Hewlett Packard m820e and the Panasonic KXL-RW10A are EXACTLY the same hardware, and all 3 are made by the same company. I'd have no problem buying any one of these models at the best price that's available. The unit has worked great on 3 different notebook computers of mine and I've also put two more units to work on 3 other computers. (All of these have been running on Windows 98.) I've never used the Adaptec CD creator (ver. 2.5) software that came bundled with it, but I'm using Adaptec's ver. 4.0 with great success.
