A good friend of mine bought a WinBook laptop about three years ago, with a one year warranty. He uses it very gently, usually as a desktop in his law office, but occasionally takes it on business trips.
The machine has been a nightmare, requireing four trips to the company to fix the display (inverter failed each time) and a very mushy keyboard.
Great advice, by the way, but what about other brands like IBM, Toshiba, and now that their OS is fully standards compliant, Apple?
