I am about to be fourteen and I have started a band. We have only ten songs written. That is not very good but we are just starting. I am going pass on what I know to you.If you read this. I hope you will rate. 1.You need to get your members ready. Pick people like your friends. You have to be able to live with them because that's basicly what you will be doing for the time your band is together. A rock band usually has about four or more members in it. 2.Pick the style of music or genre you will be playing. Make sure every one your band will agree on this style of music.If anyone in your band does not agree, talk it over.Too many bands breakup before they are ever startes because of this. 3.Make sure everyone in your band has a role they are okay with(Drums,Guitarist,vocals). Pick a lead singer(unless you are a music only band, but don't expect to be to succesful.)and do not switch between roles. 4.Make sure everyone can play thier instrument. Write at least ten songs. In about two mounths you should have atlest twenty-five songs or one set.In about half a year you should have atleats four sets (100 songs). 5..Get a name. This is where you should feel the most pressure. So many bands are out that you have to be creative.Do reserch so don't end up getting a name that is already taken. 6.Advertise yourself. You will never get popular if nobody knows you exist. Make posters, Flyers, tell people. 7.Play some gigs at local clubs,coffee shops, anywhere you can and as much as you can. Play about five songs each time so you won't bore them by playing same thing over and over again. 8.Send a demo of about four songs to a local record co. If they like you than you will probally get a record deal. Which means you will have CDs made of your songs. That's about it. Good Luck.  |
