| zadriann's Full Review: ViewSonic VA1912wb (Black) 19" LCD Monitor |
After doing my homework on LCD monitors I choose the VA1912wb and I'm happy with it. It's probably not the best on market but is very good one for the price.
It replaced a CRT 14in. monitor so the difference is awesome. I can only compare it to LCD's at work and it is a better one. Image is clear and bright. Colors are great too.
I don't have any problem with the base (some people seems to have) as long as I just adjust it to the back a little. Of course with that size you don't have much to adjust. Also I'm not moving the monitor so I don't need side nor up down movement.
What I found great was that it worked nice in my Debian Linux box with no problem at all. Of course it showed huge letters, icons, etc. on first place, but after a few adjustments it looked pretty good. Right now I'm waiting for source code to compile Linux drivers as ViewSonic offered. There are windows drivers on CD.
It was a little hard to connect all cables because connectors are hidden by a cover on the back of the monitor and there are not any advice about it nor how to open cover, so I had to figure out how to open it (pushing lids ) and to close cover was a little harder, basically to fit on place.
Sound is OK with the monitor speakers. It's clear and has onscreen controls, also mute button on front panel. But (there's always a but) it is just OK. I had JBL speakers on my comp but took them out to use monitor speakers, and can't compare them. I'll put them back. With all free space I have now, I'm sure they can fit just on monitors free back space.
I'm convinced I made a good choice on the VA1912wb
