| three_ster's Full Review: General Reviews of Cingular Wireless Customer Serv... |
Recently I had the pleasure of doing business with Cingular Wireless Service during the purchase of a new cell phone and the plan to go with it. Contacting a sales representative from the company directly, I was able to get what I feel to be a pretty good deal when it comes to cell phone service. The plan was to look for a plan that was inexpensive, but offered all of the basic amenities that would be necessary to having a useful cell phone plan. That meant having long distance, no roaming fees if out of the designated areas, and enough minutes to keep the plan practical, yet available anytime they would be needed. After talking it over and deciding between a few different plans that were being offered either on special or through discounted channels, this is the plan that I settled on:
*A $39.99 flat monthly fee, which would kick in a 15% discount as I am a Government Employee; lowering the charges to $34.99.
*No extra costs associated with the bells/whistles I wanted included on the phone.
*450 Rollover Minutes.
*5000 Night and Weekend Minutes.
*Unlimited Mobile to Mobile minutes within the Cingular nation.
*Nationwide Long Distance.
*Nationwide Roaming.
*Basic Voice Mail.
*Call Hold and Call Wait.
*Caller ID.
*3-way Calling.
The intent of this plan was to have a phone that could be used sparingly during the day, but would have a lot of accessibility at nights and during the weekends. It gave almost 84 hours of talking time with the 5000 available minutes, and in my opinion that is a lot of time to be chatting on the phone in one month. It also has the benefit of free minutes if the phone is used to contact other Cingular phones. That is a perk though, because I didn't do any research on who else might have a Cingular phone already. It will be like a nice little present when I am going over the statement and see that the phone was used to call someone within the network, thus saving the overall minutes. The plan also means that if the phone is taken around the country, there are no extra fees tacked on for roaming or long distance, because it has that completely taken care of in this plan. That makes this a great phone and plan to travel with, and insures that it will be easy to use around the country. Basically anywhere there is a Cingular tower in the U.S., this phone is going to work perfectly.
With the plan also came the choice of three phones free of charge; the Nokia 6030, Nokia 6010, and the Motorola L2. I went with the sleek new Motorola L2 which has turned out to be a really good choice. Besides the phone working great, it is easy to figure out using the user manual (book) that they send along with the phone. Not only that, but they sent a "Speed Read Your Bill" packet, which breaks down everything that will be showing up on your bill. This is extremely helpful, because it defines what each section means, and what the charges on each page actually entail. It also goes into explanations on call details, and what puts a specific call into each category. Additionally, the invoice that comes with each bill helps to breakdown exactly how many minutes you have used each period, how many are going to roll over, and provides a huge listing of all the calls you made and exactly how long each of those calls lasted.
Cingular has been very easy to deal with since I signed up for this plan, and they provide many avenues to seek assistance if you come up with a question or a problem regarding their services. They have a nice 800 number (1-800-331-0500) which can be reached by dialing 611 on the cell phone, as well as a great web-site at Cingular.com where even more information can be gleamed. The service is very easy to use, and with so many cell phone towers out and about, there haven't been any dead zones that kept the calls from going through on a consistent basis. I have dealt with Cell Phone companies before that were the birth of horror stories, but this one has gone perfectly from the day of inception. It could be my experience of cell phone usage, coupled with great parameters of this plan that have led to its success, but I think Cingular really came up big on this one.
Cingular Wireless has cell phone plans that can adjust to just about anyone's life-style, and they provide many different plans that could be useful to just about everyone. On the sheet that I had been working off of, there were at least 50 major plans to choose from, all having many different options that could be selected, added, or taken off of the plan. If you need more minutes, just move up the tree until you find a suitable amount that will fit into your schedule. If you are careful with the minutes provided, you are going to end up very happy with the cell phone service that Cingular has to offer. For a point of reference, the majority of use for this phone has taken place in Eastern Washington, and has been done on the Motorola L2 phone that they offer. Cingular seems to be ready to help out their customers, and have phone lines available at all times during the day if you have a question about your service. Using the web-site is something I also suggest, because you can find out about the intricacies within your plan, and learn even more about what your phone can do in their system. I have been very pleased with Cingular so far, and have no problem giving them a good recommendation based entirely on personal experience.
