Don't worry, I'm not Nintendo bashing, just voicing an opinion from a disappointed gamer.

...I'd like to point to the Universal Studios -vs- Nintendo lawsuit, involving alleged copyright infringement with the game Donkey Kong. At that time, Nintendo stood its ground and won, setting standards that allowed lots of other game companies to use public domain-licensed works for their computer games.

delayed games are a joke :) The 64DD did come out in Japan, but because they didn't support it all too well, it faltered and that lead to the decision to not bring it to the U.S. Imagine if it did sell well and they did bring it to the U.S...they would have been innovative and beat Microsoft to the 'hard drive' punch. Albeit a bit primitive, but still innovative.

Thanks for the comment Pavona21, I appreciate it!

I love Nintendo games and all, but some of their tactics are annoying! I studied the Nintendo Harvard Case Study in college and it was interesting to find out that some of their delaying tactics were actually to create hype about their products to create a demand. With a high demand they could pretty much do whatever they wanted to do and people would pay a premium for it. I'm not saying that they did this, but this is how we analyzed the case study as a class.

Nintendo lost their first mover advantage in a lot of ways due to their delaying tactics. I don't buy that they didn't know their demand, and I think it's just a cover-up when they say that they are having production problems. They delay on purpose! That's just my opinion.

Nintendo overall appeals more towards kids. My cousins who are 5 and 7 love their Nintendo Advance, Gameboy, and Gamecube. Their dad likes Nintendo better for his kids because the games are more appropiate for children, but that's probably the only reason why. My uncle also owns the X-Box and PS2 but I think he secretly bought them for himself and not for the kids.

I never owned a Nintendo system, but always wanted one growing up and just played at my friends houses. My parents bought be a Sega Genesis and I was very sad, but got used to Sonic the Hedgehog. Now that I'm on my own, I'm all about the Sony Playstation and I'm dying to get the PS2, but I'm gonna have to wait until I can save some more money!

It will be interesting to watch and see what Nintendo's next moves are! They can't just sit back and think that the Mario Brothers will keep them alive forever.

I enjoyed your review a lot and sorry for this long comment. You had me purrin' with this review!

My opinion (Reply to this comment)
by pavona21
Nintendo thinks that their fans like delayed games. Nintendo thinks that if they make promises and don’t follow through, then their fans enjoy that. Nintendo thinks that “Quality, Not Quantity” is the best phrase ever.

I'll take this as a joke. We all hate the delays, but it isn't like Nintendo thinks we like 'em either. Although sometimes I wonder why they delay everything...

And why didn’t the 64DD come out?

I thought it came in Japan and had no success, but I could be wrong.

Also, I believe that Nintendo has made a few innovative choices, or at least choices that proved to be different. For example, the wavebird is the first ever first party wireless controller, and it is actually quality. Sure, it isn't earth shaking, but it's innovative. And Pikmin, while it may be creature simulation, it's nothing pokemon. That would kind of be like saying all RPGS are sequals and the same. Although I will admit that innovation is pretty rare in video games these days. It's hard to name something from this generation of games and or consoles that I would consider innovative.

Anyway, all that stuff was for arguement sake, and I'm not saying that you were wrong. In the end, that's just my opinion on the matter, and I respect the knowledge and opinion that you have too. Overall, good review with a lot of info,

This has got to be one of the most interesting epinions I've ever read. I never knew about Nintendo's lawsuit or any of it's history other than it started out by making playing cards. It's really interesting to learn about one of the most "trusted" names in the video game business.
