Which legendary rap album is the "Greatest of All Time"?
by paulyoungotti | Jul 21 '02
Ok so we could be here disputing over what is and isn't included for the next century. Read it, dispute it, but stay assured I remain right.

Don't be an idiot. All Eyez On Me is probably Pac's weakest living album. He avoided it because it doesn't deserve to be on the list.

The production is near unrivalled on any hip-hop record ever

You're joking right? It was a different type of production, it doesn't make it the best.

Gang Starr's Daily Operation and Full Clip: Decade of Destruction beats it out. Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers certainly rivals and beats anything Dr. Dre. If you want lean and distinctive production, listen to RZA.

And I agree with the previous poster, All Eyez On Me deserves to be on the list. You probably avoided 2Pac albums just to get reaction.

I KNOW I'm gonna get slaughtered for this, from virtually every Wu fan out there, but I don't really feel Gza that much. He's real good, but I don't like his style - his voice, flow or delivery. Deck and Ghost are much better if you ask me.

And while "Liquid Swords" was obviously excellent, I just didn't feel it in the same way as any of the 10.

Thanks for the comment, though...

Hmmm you made a good point there. I forget about Blackstar... it should probably have got an honourable mention. Oh well... it can get an also-ran status instead! :-)

Being a Leo sucks though if you ask me! All my friends are legally allowed to drink when they hit 18 next year, but I'm not because I won't be 18 for ages! :-(

Thanks for the comment though

I'm glad to see for once you didn't give a two page essay on how I'm wrong... lol.... :-) it's all fairly subjective though isn't it?

Yeah, precisely, I agree with konspirator. Eminem's a pretty dope emcee I agree, and MMLP was also good, but one of the best of all time even as an honourable mention? I dunno bout that...

Thanks for the comment though

eminem's a great rapper, but i wouldn't exactly go so far as to call the marshall mathers lp "legendary".

I'm glad I don't see Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP on here (I like Stan, but I generally loathe the guy and his songs). You probably realise that I am not a hip-hop fan, so I'll just say great list and great review.

P.S. Lee Bowyer's royal kick up the backside from Liverpool was pretty darn funny!

.... If you don't think "Liquid Swords" belongs in the top 5. And Eminem's "The Marshall Mathers LP" doesn't even get an honorable mention?

Other than that though, great list.

Oh yeah that's a mistake on my part. I meant "Wrong N---- To F--k Wit", I get those two tracks mixed up a lot. And I'm glad to see that someone agrees with me on those decisions...

excellent list... (Reply to this comment)

youre right on a lot of counts..."Death Certificate" is WAYYY better than "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" (although I think "Tha N!gga Ya Love To Hate" was on "AMW")..."Follow the Leader" is WAAAAAYYY better than "Paid in Full", and Nas will never make another album half as good as "Illmatic".

Excellent list...I own all ten albums. Almost makes me want to write my own...hmmmmmm...

That is, of course, depending on whether you're creating a list based on EXCELLENT hip-hop. In which case, of course, there's no chance of adding JAY-Z (for those who hadn't guessed - he's merely ok)

Decent list, definitely. I persianlly think that Fear of a Black Planet was a better, more complete album than It Takes a Nation... but its all sjubject to debate.

At the bottom in the homorable mantion section, you may want to change De La Soul - "The Low End Theory" to TCQ - "The Low End Theory." Just a minor mistake I noticed. Anyway, great job.

this is a decent list. i will forgo the argument because you KNOW what you've left off that makes your list incomplete.
