ALL THAT FOR $139

Written: Jun 18 '01 (Updated Jul 06 '01)
Pros:Everything.. Food is exceptional..
Cons:Nuttin Honey
The Bottom Line: This hotel is appropriate for everyone.. business, family, romantic vacation.. I couldn't pick them all, so had to settle for business..

I may be biased, but this hotel is high quality and excellent service. I recently had an extended stay in the Residence Inn of Bethesda Maryland.. I am looking forward to sharing my vacation with you, and hope that you will be able to make an informed decision.. Note: This epinion is only about the Residence Inn of Bethesda Maryland..

Background & Rates

For those of you not familiar with the Residence Inn chain, it is a extended stay hotel owned by Marriot Corporation.. Extended stay means they generally like people to stay
for a long period of time such as a week or more.. They will rent you rooms for the night, but you will have a higher rate of somewhere around $250 a night.. If you stay for more then a month this cost is cut to $139.00..

The Rooms

This particular chain offers only suites and not studios for your stay. What is a suite compared to a studio you may ask yourself, well the difference is simple.. A suite is a hotel room that is separated by a wall, while a studio is one open space.. Their suites include a small kitchenette, living room area, bedroom/office, and bathroom..

The Food

It was certainly a surprise at how well this hotel treats their guests stomachs.. Everything that I mention here is included in the room rate. In the morning there is an all you can eat breakfast buffet which consists of scrambled eggs, French toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, homemade waffles, sausage, muffins, bagels etc.. This buffet is just as good as any restaurant.. Then in the evenings Monday through Thursday they have something called social hour.. The guests can mingle with each other while eating a light dinner.. This menu changes daily, and they also serve wine and beer..

The Staff

I found the staff to be quite pleasant, and willing to help when my companion and I wanted directions to the mall.. They also assisted us in finding things to do in the area..
This particular hotel offers to run errands for you as well, for no charge, but tipping is common courtesy.. The staff will get your groceries from the local store for you if you make a shopping list..

Amenities

This hotel offers you quite a few things without even leaving the hotel grounds. As I mentioned earlier they have something called social hour.. This can be a nice way to meet new people if your staying in the hotel for several months on business. They also have a outdoor swimming pool/sauna and a small gym.. The only thing I would have liked them to add is an indoor pool..

Overall Opinion

Would I stay here again? The answer is in a heartbeat and without a doubt.. I have not found a hotel at this good of a price for the quality.. If you need to make reservations for you or your company.. The number is 1-301-718-0200 and ask for Francisco in sales.. He is a wonderful pleasant Sales Manager.. I hope you check out my upcoming reviews on Bethesda Restaurants..
