It's All About Comfort and Safety!

The Bottom Line COMFORTABILITY AND SAFETY IS THE KEY!! STAY SAFE AND STAY CLEAN!
I've been a high level soccer player for many years now. I am now transforming into a golfer but that is a different story. I've played soccer since i was 4, over the past 12 years i have seen and learned many things about the game of soccer. I have picked up sportsmanship, and many other character traits but what i believe i have learned the most is soccer equipment, especially shoes.
Choosing the correct type of shoes comes all down to two things COMFORT and SAFETY. Now you are probably thinking screw that, pardon the expression, i wan't to have good looking shoes. Well, yeah of course you do! If you could see all the types of injuries i have seen do to improper footwear, wrong cleat type etc. you would understand. I my self have had 3 knee surgeries, a broken leg and two broken wrists in my career. My third knee surgery was due to improper footwear. I was wearing Molded studs in mud in a high school soccer match, not very smart! BYEBYE ACL! But anyways choosing a soccer shoes shirt first meet your comfortability standards, you can't perform at your highest level if you are not comfortable. Then comes safety, you need solid ankle stability in a shoe. You can't use shoes such as the new Nike Vapors that have now stability what so ever, eventually it will catch up to you and your going to hurt yourself bad.
After you have graduated through the stages of comfortability and safety in your soccer shoe selection next should come size. How well your shoe fits to your foot controls factors such as ankle stability and padding, this is a very important choice. Shoes that are too small are a waste of money and can bunch up your toes and be uncomfortable. But shoes that are too big are more dangerous, they allow your foot to be loose, making it easier to hurt yourself, not to mention you would look pretty goofy wearing size 10's if your an 8! Price is the next order of business. From $100-$150 is probably your best bet. Much under a hundred the quality begins to become a bit shady and much above one fifty is just not a wise decision. It is just not really practical to go out and spend $200 on a pair of soccer shoes, you can buy two perfectly good pairs for that price. And the least of all your worries should be style. If you really care more about how your shoes look then how you are going to perform in a soccer field, then you should not even step foot on a field. But try to make your shoe selection reasonable, don't get some outlandish type of shoe.
Just another suggestion, you don't really want real flashy shoes, they tend to be stolen fairly often. I have traveled to international tournaments and been left with only a pair of studs because iv'e had several pairs of shoes stolen. So usually dark colors tend to be a turn off for crooks.
I can't tell you much more than that, but i can give you a few suggestions on shoes, even though most are not in production anymore.
