"Nice To Meet You"

The Bottom Line A song for Gram.
So I was going through some old stuff today, and I found this song that I wrote several years ago for my deceased grandmother, the woman who raised my father. I never really knew her except through photographs and encounters back when I was too young to remember vividly. I know she's always around though :) So, here goes nothing...
=====================
This morning
I thought I saw your eyes
In the shimmering sunrise
As I stood
I felt your soft breathing
In the wind's gentle teasing
Mother Nature's presence
Rocking the shores
Was no comparison
To beauty like yours
I mourn for what
A short time you were given
So soon
From your life you were driven
It's not right
But it's not wrong
There's an end to every song
Still I can't
Will myself to think
Of you... the missing link
Then the sky
It filled with clouds
Like dark grey death shrouds
As I stood
I thought I heard you cry
As the rain began to fly
But Mother Nature's presence
Rocking the shores
Was no comparison
To beauty like yours
I mourn for what
A short time you were given
So soon
From your life you were driven
Next thing I knew
You were everywhere
Skipping across the sand
Flying through the air
I heard your voice
In the wind just then
Sayin' please don't think
Of what might have been
I'm happier here
Much less confined
So I'll follow you now
And I hope you don't mind
In my mind
Yes it was true
That I never really knew you
No sooner
Had this thought drawn near
Than did the rain disappear
Your kiss
Came in the returning sunlight
I only whispered in delight
...Nice to meet you
