I've been using Dreamhost for about 9 months to host my personal website, moosedogtoo.com and I just added another personal site, nickandlaurel.com. I have been very pleased with the service that I have received.
When I was looking for a hosting service, unlimited email aliases was the most important element for me. I have the least expensive plan that Dreamhost offers and it includes unlimited email aliases. Since I paid for an entire year up front, I got extra storage space too. Usually the Crazy Domain Insane plan comes with 30 MB and I have 60 MB. I also have 6 mail accounts and FTP and PHP capabilities. I'm not sure what PHP is, but I'm sure it's a good thing to have. :)
Since I was a website beginner, I was also interested in good tech support. I was not particularly interested in phone support, so Dreamhost's lack of phone support wasn't a big issue with me. I have asked the tech support people several questions over the months and none of them has taken more than 12 hours to be answered. That's great in my book. Also, when they answer your questions, they're saved on your web panel so that you can refer back to them later if you wish.
I can't think of anything that I've not enjoyed about being hosted with Dreamhost and I can whole heartedly recommend them!
