Blockbuster lost a tape that I returned, and they said that it's my fault because I haven't returned it. Well, I dropped the tape in that drop-off box, who's from preventing the little twit behind the counter from taking the tape? So I paid the cost of the tape and immediately terminated my membership. Enough said about Blockbuster.
Now, Netflix sent me 3 DVDs by mail. I didn't get them-- I think someone stole them from my mailbox. I reported this to Netflix. Did they ask me a single question? No. Did they ask me to pay for the lost DVDs ? No. The reply I got by email was... "We'll send you replacements immediately." I got the DVDs 3-4 days later. I rented a mailbox and I've never lost another DVD since.
I don't care what other people say about netflix, for an online business, their customer service is excellent and I'd do business with them over Blockbuster any day. They reply to my email within hours. They ship DVDs the same day when they get your rentals back. Is there anything else you can ask for? Nope.
I think their movie selections are pretty good. While it's true that some movies are just too busy to be rented out (like Toy Story 2), they are very few in numbers. Netflix has lots of movies to choose from, and until I've run out movies to watch, I'll continue to get DVDs over the mail.
The only disadvantage for me is that they're located in California, and it takes 3-5 days before I get the DVDs by mail. If I live in California I would assume that I would get the DVDs within a day or so, which would make their service even better. Netflix really should expand and add more warehouses all over the country.
