Long time no read! (Reply to this comment)
by miridunn
You are a wonderful story teller -- just as I remembered you when I first read you a few years ago and added you to my trust list. I have not been around for a while. Not since the Big Site Change, actually. I still don't find it as appealing as it once was.
Anyway, you're story does indeed have a twist! I was expecting bones to be discovered....a murder mystery! Nonetheless, as a history buff, and familiar mostly with Europe, I was glad to read about Australia. I had forgotten how young she is!
And what a wonderful find! You must have been honoured for your company to be chosen to restore that little piece of history!

...Granniemose's version. Well done, and thanks for inspiring Granniemose to write her version.

wanna have a drink on ole Harry as you tell it! Only in Ostraya! Well, actually we have a similar water problem in New Orleans where the dead rise from the grave every time there's a flood. :o
Great job, as always, mate!

Funny I thought you would be at least early on the scene but the old eps computer plays funny games sometimes :)
It is a little girl’s boot (probably around 7 years old) and the cause of death may have been TB – but that was never recorded. Of course not even germs had been discovered so she could have died of anything – maybe too much “drinking on Harry” (sorry Dede)
She was one of about 7 kids and the boot survived only thanks to being fully encased in the foundation compound of that era – pre concrete.
It would make a good novel!!! – hop to it Virginnia !! Then your trip here can be tax deductible lol You would be in your element mixing it with all the senior citizens – no doubt you would find out more than I can! They are a good mob actually, but most are much older …….er……..more senior than you :)
Thanks Virginia
Peter :)

So interesting... (Reply to this comment)

I learned a lot reading this, very sad, as well.
The part about the water reminded me of the graveyard in St. Augustine- when the Europeans settled here, and began to bury their dead, they didn't take into account the flooding. During the first major rain of the year there were coffins floating down Main Street. Needless to say, the cemetary is now all above-ground.

My Comment Isn't Here (Reply to this comment)
by Granniemose
I don't know why..I was probably the first one here, since it was one of those no sleep nights and it come on before I retired. Well, anyway, I said that it was a fantastic review. It really tickled the imagination, and I wondered about the family - was the boot for a little girl or a little boy. What caused the child's death? Were there other children. I thought of how that little boot survived all of those years, and what a great thing it is that you and the staff in the shoe store were able to bring it back to life. It would make a super novel. Great job, Peter.
