The Bottom Line These are my opinions on Spielberg's Best Films. It shows 15 movies that he did and shows why they are his best.
These are Spielberg's Best Films in my opinion, and not including the ones he produced, just the ones he directed.
15. Always-This is a great film. Richard Dreyfuss plays a dead man from heaven who comes to relieve his girlfriend and tell her to get on with her life. It's touching, and is a great movie-wise.
14. 1941-This is a comic movie. Spielberg turned to his comic side in this film using comedy actor Dan Akroyd. It will make you laugh out loud.
13. Empire of the Sun-This is a film about Pearl Harbor and war. Another one of Spielberg's war films again, this is a chilling film about WWII. It's a great film in which Spielberg brings to life the War through the eyes of a young boy.
12. Amistad-This is another one of Spielberg's war movies. This is a well acted movie that is interesting and keeps you in the story. A good film overall.
11. A.I. Artificial Intelligence-This is Spielberg's creepy side. He made this to bring to life a realistic depiction of the future, and to pay tribute to his long time directing friend, Stanley Kubrick. It's a great film.
10. Hook-Spielberg's favorite story-book character growing up was Peter Pan, the familiar Disney character. Now he brings Peter Pan to life in a great way. This is also a great family film and a movie that will always keep us on the edge for a while.
9. Jurassic Park-I think that this is the Best Special Effects movie ever made. This made Box-Office history, and is still, even today, the #5 Box Office hit of all time. This is a great film that keeps every one of us on the edge of our seats every time we see it.
8. Raiders of the Lost Ark-This has got to be the best action movie ever made. Along with George Lucas, Spielberg made the Indiana Jones character, and turned him into a world-wide phenomena.
7. Close Encounters of the Third Kind-Now, Spielberg wrote and directed this motion picture about Close Encounters with Alien Beings. The ending gets everyone every time. When that ship goes into the air, we can do nothing but freeze in mid-popcorn.
6. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial-This is the Spielberg film that made us smile. Every time we watch that creature's neck rise up, we can do nothing but smile. This is already the best family film ever made, and defenitely one of Spielberg's Best.
5. Jaws-This is a classic film. I bet every person in the country has seen this film. Imagine a 25 ft. shark terrorizing a small beach. This film has made people stay out of the water for 25 years. This got Spielberg's career started, because of the great movie that it is.
4. The Color Purple-This is a touching movie, with Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover, and Oprah Winfrey, this is one of Spielberg's saddest obviously, and turns out to be one of his best.
3. Minority Report-This was recently put into theaters. A movie about the future, this movie is not like Spielberg's other war films. Spielberg took a completely different turn, and a turn that was good. This is Spielberg's first murder mystery, and one of his best dramas, this is a must see Spielberg film.
2. Saving Private Ryan-Now, this has to be the best war film ever made. There has been no other movie like Saving Private Ryan folks. This won 5 Oscars, and got Spielberg his 2nd directing Oscar. With its vision of D-Day at the beginning, and the Dramatic vision of war seen through the eyes of those soldiers, this is defenitely one of Spielberg's Best Films.
1. Schindler's List-Now some may say The Color Purple, some may say Saving Private Ryan, and some may say Jaws, but this is a classic film folks. This is also my favorite movie. It won 7 Oscars, and got Spielberg his first Oscar. this is without a doubt Spielberg's Best Film.
