This is the best racing game ever. For the hardcore racer, you cant go wrong with the GT series. For those of you who are serious about cars, you will feel right at home with this game. But as great as this game is, it does have its downfalls. Its the little things. Like the ability to chip a carburated engine.
Pros:
The game is very realistic. In simulation mode, the car handles like it would in real life. Front wheel drive cars have understeer, rear wheel drive cars have their oversteer. Then you have the huge selection of cars. In how many games can you soup up a neon and then race it against a Viper? There are about 400 cars in this game. Not only that, but the cars are very true to life. For example, you can check out the 0-60 times in this game and they will be very close to the real life times. You may also choose to soup up your car. A lowly VW beetle can be pumped up to do battle with the best of them. And the tracks? There are many, and just as realistic as the cars. How would you like to race on Laguna Seca? Done. Just by playing this game, I know what the guys on speedvision are going through. Gosh darned corkscrew always gets me! And how about the comp racers? They are enough for most players to handle. And after the races are over, you can watch the best replays in the world! You can choose your camera angle, or you can choose to see the computer racers. And I must not forget that the music is real, like dragula and the cardigans are on this game.
Cons:
Although this game is great, it does have some small problems. Like I mentioned before, you cant install a chip on a Mini cooper, which is carburated. You cant install a turbo on some cars, which you know can be turbocharged. The lisences are really hard to get, but I recommend you get all the lisences before you begin playing. Another thing that bugs me is the fact that you can only save one game per memory card. The rally mode is very easy. The lanes are wide and terrain conditions are constant. In real rallies you go through mud, snow, dirt, rain, sun, etc, etc. You have to choose tires and supspension setups. The worst thing about this game is the multiplayer mode. The analog sticks will stop working and you will be unable to steer, making the multiplayer mode obsolete.
Overall, despite its faults, this is the best racing game available on the market. It also has a great replay value. I would recommend it to anyone who loves cars.
