| KMINER's Full Review: Downy Wrinkle Releaser All Scents |
I hate to iron. Let me be clear, I really don't iron. I'd actually rather run down to another floor of the house, run my clothing item through the drier, shake it off when I pull it out, put it back on, and pray it's not as wrinkly!
I saw commercials for this product, and I knew I was determined to purchase it - even amid stares and shaking of the head and "don't you dare spray that crap on my clothes" from my husband.
Still I wanted it, and had visions of myself no longer being "that lady at work who doesn't know how to iron" (which was probably just my own notion of what people are saying about me).
I bought it without really reading exactly how to use it on the package. I did read the back of the bottle the first time I went to use it, and then I realized I was really spraying away! To the point where my clothes were damp and taking a while to dry - not having all that much time I took to putting on my clothes and then the spray would dry some time later before I left the house!
It's a pretty typical white looking spray bottle (mine was 16.9 oz in size) in the Light Freshness scent - and it smells like a light fabric softener but isn't irritating.
I then decided to read some other reviews and the company's information about the product.
"Downy Wrinkle Releaser is an easy-to-use spray that reduces wrinkles and helps keep your casual clothes looking neat without all the hassle of ironing. Its unique formula relaxes fabric fibers, helping to release wrinkles. And Downy Wrinkle Releaser leaves clothes with incredible softness.
For a finished look without the stiffness of starch use Downy Wrinkle Releaser while ironing. You can also use Downy Wrinkle Releaser on dry-clean-only clothes. It won't leave a residue on dark fabrics. Downy Wrinkle Releaser is great on clothes right out of your dryer, closet or laundry basket. Think of all the times your clothes are creased by storage in your drawers, suitcase or gym locker. Just spray, tug and smooth anytime you need to quickly reduce unsightly wrinkles."
The process is pretty much to spray, tug, let dry, wear. The site often suggests hanging items up to dry (like tops, shorts, etc) and putting pants, etc on a flat surface to dry. It also suggests some tips for more effective drying such as spraying the night before, blowing with a hair dryer, and putting in the dryer.
Well if I could do all these things, I don't think I'd have to buy Downy Wrinkle Releaser in the first place!
I wanted a "spray and go" type of product - was I asking too much?
I have to say that Downy Wrinkle Releaser really does work well. It is super easy to spray damp, tug the clothing, and then it dries. Honestly, it usually dries on me - I really don't think that far ahead to lay out clothes, spray the night before, and any of the such ... if I did all that I'd probably be the type of person to iron in the first place!
The product always dries before I leave the house, so I've taken to not really thinking about it. I haven't had to iron, and (much to my husband's irritation) no all my clothing has not disintigrated!
I do worry, some where in the back part of my head, if this product is doing some sort of long term damage to my clothing ... but I haven't seen any stains, fabric discoloration, or wear yet. I do often wonder about the ingredients and "just how" it is working.
I can't stop using it though - I hate to iron and never did much before. Yes, I'd go to work with wrinkled clothes ... so I say this is a huge improvement!
The only thing Downy Wrinkle Releaser hasn't worked for me on is non-stretch denim (of which I have few items, but one is a really cute jean skirt I like to wear to work) - that item I do have to iron myself (and because of this I find myself rarely wearing it!)
For me, I cannot live without my Downy Wrinkle Releaser ... and until I see bad risks involved, I can't see myself stopping using it!
