A must have for new parents

Cons: Takes a lot of storage - will need large trunk or minivan or SUV
The Bottom Line: Great for infant all the way through toddler - would recommend to everyone.

When I got pregnant, and registered for my shower, I was determined to get an Evenflo Trendsetter Travel System. And I did - and I will always thank my in-laws for that. This is the one thing I would recommend to new parents if I could recommend only one thing.
In case you're new to this - a Travel system consists of two functions - infant carrier/car seat and stroller. The infant carrier/car seat has a base which is what is installed in your car and stays in there all the time. The infant carrier attaches to that base. That way the infant stays in the carrier. So when baby is asleep you can snap out the carrier and bring it into the store or wherever you are going. The other nice thing is that the infant carrier snaps onto the stroller, also, as well as being a car seat in itself. That way, if you leave baby at grandma's in the carrier, and they don't have a car seat, they can install the carrier directly into the car (as well as having the option of buying additional bases for each car if you are more comfortable with that). And, once baby outgrows the carrier, the stroller is large and roomy and can be used as a sit in stroller for a long time. My fifteen month old doesn't come close to outgrowing his.
I chose the Trendsetter over others for a few reasons. One, it handles/steers so easily. It has a one handed steering feature which actually works. Two, it was large enough that my son could use it for a long time. Three, it had great shocks on the wheels, and is great for taking baby on walks. The shocks also enable you to "rock" the whole stroller to help baby to sleep. Four, it has a removable tray which holds a cup and snacks for baby. Five, it has two drink holders and a tray for mom. Six, LOTS of storage underneath! I put my purse, his diaper bag, shopping bags, umbrella, etc. under there with no problem.
