The Bottom Line If you must but this car, get the extended warranty. Always try to get a Customer Care case for reimbursement, since you shouldn't pay for shoddy worksmanship.
VW has very poor quality worksmanship. Do not buy a VW if you want a dependable car, but if you do buy one, make sure you get the extended warranty. I have a Ford and a Toyota, and have never had any problems with them. However, my brand new Jetta has had a problem that required shop time almost every two months, just like clockwork. Very shoddy worksmanship, things falling off etc. The air conditioner compressor just went out after 26k miles, and today the car decided it didn't want to move out of park, because some sensor went bad after 30k miles. If VW tried to charge your for their poor quality, make sure you get the Customer Car number from them and ask for a reimbursement.  |
