Amy, you're a frigging genius!!!
Your mention of the new media player led me to an upgrade to the OS. That fixed the popping sound.
The jury is still out on whether it fixes the other problems. However, I now have two other problems.
1. Some of my MP3s that played under the old player won't play under the new one.
2. I can't figure out how to uninstall the old media player.

Have you downloaded the new Windows Media Player yet? I don't have the problems that you are describing with the volume or the playlist.

I am glad you like your new toy! Thank you for the in depth information with regard to the volume control, having a hearing loss - that is important to know!!!!
We want to purchase a palm but are hesistant. Actually the we is more ME. =)
