This deserves an A plus.
You certainly have a way with words, Rich. I spiraled with you, and will remember this essay on Halloween.
Terrific insight.

VS for Very Scary, that is. Glad to hear that this is merely an intellectual exercise; you had quite a few people scared there, including me.

Rich,
You really scared me with this one! I'm so glad that it is fiction. This is hauntingly beautiful.

Very interesting intellectual exercise you have done here! It takes quite an open mind to put into words the effect created by such a state of mind. I guess somewhere along the line, you discovered the same thing that I did... that it is possible to get close enough to any cause (just for the sake of exploration) to create in words the effect that it brings, but not so close that the cause actually brings the effect out of us if we don't want it to. Just like when people feel sorry for a character in a movie; of course they aren't really technically feeling sorry for the character, they are just exploring the cause up close without actually having to feel the pain themselves, and then in turn, exploring the effect which somehow becomes real. Maybe we make ourselves believe it just for the sake of seeing what it is like. Nobody ever walked a mile in another person's shoes, they can only pretend to do that. And yet we can still somehow recreate the effect of any cause in our minds, we can imagine it, we can bring it to life. That is an intellectual ability not available to many, especially those who are inert and dependent on the Matrix!

Rich I had exactly the same fear. If this is fiction, it is incredibly well written. And a tribute to you that your writing strikes fear into our hearts - we truly care.

Steph and Jan,
This essay is simply an intellectual exercise and does not reflect my current state of mind. I'm actually doing just fine. But thank you so much for your concern.
Epinions may be just a shell of what it once was in terms of remuneration to contributors, but the friendship and caring of folks like you and others make it a priceless experience. And that's the only reason I remain here.
Best Regards,
Rich

Rich, I sincerely hope this is only fiction from a very creative genius. Wait a couple of minutes and read my post that surprisingly parallels yours.

...Don't you think you're taking this over-reaction thing to NH ratings and charges of being off-topic just a bit too far?
