World Market Kenya AA Roast

Written: Nov 23 '06
Pros:Good flavor, no bad aftertaste.
Cons:Not exceptional, just good.
The Bottom Line: A good coffee for a good price.

Right from the moment that I opened up the bag I knew I was in for a treat. The aroma was powerful and complex. Definitely some thing good I thought. Well after the brew I was a little disappointed. Disappointed enough to not buy it again? No, but not good enough that I would recommend making a special purchase for it.

How I did the tasting
The beans used were whole beans. I brewed a batch in my French coffee press. The water was just below boiling and the ground beans sat in the water for 4 minutes before the plunger was pressed. The grind is a course grind. I also use bottled water because my tap water tastes putrid.

Aroma
The aroma was sweet with a hint of brightness.
Body
There is body to this coffee, it moderately coats the palette.
Flavor
The initial flavor is fairly mild with just a hint of earthiness. No bad
There is a bright aftertaste.
Acidity
There is an acidic taste but hardly any.
The roast
I’d consider it a medium roast.

The bean
The sizes of the beans ranged from 3/8 of an inch to 1/2 an inch.
The taste was not unpleasant. There is an aftertaste of bitterness. It would be an acceptable coffee to coat in with chocolate.

Price
It is 7.99 for 12 ounces of coffee.

Where to get it.
Cost Plus: World Market.
There are 286 stores in 35 states, including the one I go to at the Ontario Mills, Ontario Ca.

While you can buy their coffee makers (and a nice French press from Bodum), you cannot buy their coffee online.

The word
In my book this is an average coffee. Other people that are not as picky as me would rate this coffee bean higher. So I recommend it as an average coffee for an average price, a good thing since exceptional coffee is so much more expensive and hard to find locally.

My other coffee reviews.
Kauai Peaberry Roast
Starbucks Kenya Coffee
Starbucks House Blend
World Markets Italian Roast
World Market Sumatra Medium Roast
World Market Mocha Java Roast
