I have had hardwood floors in my kitchen and dining room for 10 years. When they were first installed, they looked great. My contractor gave me a bottle of a swiss floor cleaner that was very expensive, and I was never happy with the job it did. It left my floor dull, when I wanted a nice shine.
A few years ago I was watching an Orange Glo infomercial on TV, and they were introducing this product. A complete kit for hardwood floors. The product seemed so great, I had to order it, and am I ever glad I did.
The Kit
One 32 oz. spray bottle of Orange Glo Hardwood Floor Cleaner
One 32 oz. bottle of Orange Glo Hardwood Floor Refinisher
One Orange Glo Mop with Swivel Head and 3 piece pole
Three cleaning pads: (1) Allura Fiber Cleaning Pad, (1)Fluffy Dusting Pad and (1) Allura Fiber Refinishing Pad
Using The System
The first time I used the Orange Glo floor cleaning system, I thought it was quite time consuming, but well worth the time I put into it. The floor needs to be swept thoroughly, and then cleaned with the hardwood floor cleaner. There is nothing to mix, the spray bottle is ready to use, and I simply sprayed it on a 3 foot by 3 foot area of my floor, and cleaned the area with the mop (using the fiber cleaning pad). It worked quite well in removing even older dirt spots from corners and such. It took me about 30 minutes to clean both the kitchen and diningroom floors.
Next is the best part of this system, the floor refinisher! This stuff is amazing! It kind of reminds me of a product my mom used to use on her vinyl floors (I think the product was called Future). Unlike the swiss floor cleaner I had used in the past, this is not concentrated, it is ready to use. The product is a milky white color, and is quite thick. I swirled it on my floor, again in a 3 foot by 3 foot area, and then using the damp mop (with the refinishing pad), and carefully moved the mop from one side to the other of my "square" - going along the grain of the wood. Immediately I saw a huge difference in the way my floor looked. The shine was back, and the floors looked new again! I am not exaggerating here, the difference was night and day. You are supposed to dampen the mop with water before applying the refinisher, but I have found, for me, that it does a better job if I use it dry. (It takes more refinisher to do it this way, but I get a thicker application on my floor).
About The System
One thing that attracted me to this cleaning system was the fact that both the cleaner and refinisher are non-toxic. (I checked the Material Safety Data Sheets, and they are indeed non-toxic.) The floor cleaner is water based, and cleans the wood floor without leaving behind any residue. The refinisher puts down a nice protective coing on the floor, and makes scratches and other small imperfections disappear.
The pads are all machine washable, which saves a lot of money in the long run, and won't add to our land fills with unnecessary garbage.
The mop has a swivel head and is easy to maneuver around the floor. It will glide flat against the floor trim and get really close to the edges of the room.
My Experience
We remodeled our kitchen this summer, and the floor guy didn't do a very good job when he stripped and refinished our wood floors. The used a new product, and the floors came out with white blotches all over them, looking like someone poured bleach on them! He promised he would return and redo the floors. Time has passed, and the floors have not yet been refinished. They will be done in December when we are out of town for Christmas. My point is this, because I kept waiting for him to return and refinish the floors, I really didn't take much care of them in the meantime. They had been swept and spot cleaned for the past 4 months, but that is all.
We are having two families over for Thanksgiving dinner today (boy that Turkey smells good right now!!), and last night when I was cleaning, I decided to go ahead and clean the floors with my Orange Glo kit. At least they could look a little bit better for company. My husband was stunned by the way the floors looked when I was done. He pointed out that we could see the reflection of our little dog when she was standing on the floors!! They are that shiny! In a word, they look GREAT!!
The floors were dry in about 30 minutes, so the fast drying time was really nice.
The cleaning pads are great, made of a nice microfiber cloth, which sticks to the mop (kind of like how velcro works). The dusting head is nice if you like to use a dust mop, but I have never used it.

Final Thoughts
The bottle states that the floor refinisher is not intended to replace a professional finish application, but honestly, this is the nicest my floors have looked. The Orange Glo system renewed my wood floors back to (or even better than) their original state. I think this product is well worth the money!! In fact, I will be purchasing more soon as I am almost out!
