Stay away from honeycomb shades - shoddy workmanship

We have ordered from Smith+Noble three times over a period of 8 years. The roller shades and wooden shades have all been very good, and arrived as ordered. I have had no difficulty installing any of the 12 or so window treatments I have ordered. However, in the last year we purchased about 8 honeycomb shades and have been very disappointed. They changed their manufacturer, and their design. One of our shades arrived broken, two needed to be sent back for replacement soon after. All of the problems involved the drop down mechanism. On top of this, the plastic clips that hold the strings together, and attach to the pulls at the end are all cracked. About half have broken completely. Smith+Noble sent me replacements - but replacing them is not easy (untying knots, retying them, etc.. - each at least 20 minutes). To top it off, the plastic pieces they sent are the same as the last - and are now all cracking as well! While the customer service folks are all quite friendly - and they will replace broken items - it is all one big pain in the neck. Until they redesign their honeycomb shades I would definitely stay away from this product!
